Young Harris, Georgia is a very small town in Towns County, located in the extreme North Georgia mountains. The city itself is only about one square mile, but it is filled to capacity with beauty and creativity. Former Georgia Governor and U.S. Senator Zell Miller was born and continues to live in Young Harris, and began his political career as mayor of the small town from 1959 to 1960.
Much more recently established, the town is also now home to the Brasstown Valley Resort, one of Georgia’s premier resort destinations. The resort boasts a lodge, golf course, spa, and dining facilities along with an equestrian center, hiking trails, and conference facilities. Overseen by Zell Miller, the construction and operation of this spectacular resort is designed to magnify the beauty of the valley in every way.
Not only is Young Harris among the most scenic North Georgia towns filled with interesting and unique opportunities, but the town also has the added benefit of being conveniently located near several other, just as interesting, rustic towns. The proximity to major Georgia roadways makes it easy to travel between these fantastic country towns. The location near the Georgia/North Carolina border allows residents of Young Harris to enjoy the various amenities found in both states.
